Mossbourne Foundation
Mossbourne Community Academy exists to enable all pupils to realise their full potential and inspire them to excel.
Such was the vision and passion of the late Sir Clive Bourne, who firmly believed that all children must be given the opportunity to succeed, regardless of background or circumstance.
Founding Mossbourne Community Academy in 2004, Sir Clive Bourne made it his mission to provide Hackney children a world-class education and drive the standards of educational provision in the borough. Staff and pupils of Mossbourne Community Academy have maintained the gold standard of provision and attainment year on year since its inception.
The academy has redefined national expectations of what is possible to achieve in an inner-city, non-selective academy – from the two ‘Outstanding’ OFSTED judgments and headline-grabbing exam results, all the way through to students annually gaining places at Oxbridge, Russell Group Universities, MIT and other world-renowned universities.
Mossbourne Community Academy is a place for learning in which pupils and staff are expected to work hard and invest in their future and success is available to everybody.
Our Ethos
Courtesy, hard work and excellence are our guiding principles, which we embody alongside our Federation values of unity and no-excuses. Mossbourne Community Academy’s ethos is founded on a belief in simple and traditional values, which are combined with an innovative approach to learning. We believe that our children only deserve exceptional teaching and learning and guidance and always strive to deliver this.
The safety and wellbeing of our students is at the heart of everything we do. Our pastoral care is exceptional in its simplicity; pupil safety comes first. Impeccable pupil behaviour area is achieved because our expectations are communicated clearly and regularly. There is no ambiguity regarding our expectations and our pupils feel safe. Our inclusive environment welcomes all learners equally and every pupil and staff member is a valued member of our community.
Pupils are encouraged to respect the fundamental British values of democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect. Good manners are a prerequisite, allowing us to ensure that pupils are learning in a structured environment; this is essential for focused study which motivates pupils to succeed.
Through hard work and diligence, staff set the example that pupils follow. As a parent or carer, your child’s progress will be communicated through regular reports, parental meetings and parents’ evenings. There is a ‘Friends of Mossbourne’, made up of a committee of MCA parents, which runs regular events, including fairs and uniform sales at key times of the school year.
