More about the position
The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, directing, managing, coordinating, and supervising the programs for acquisition, assignment, utilization, maintenance, repair, replacement and disposal of fleet vehicles. The Fleet manager will also serve as the primary contact concerning the vehicle fleet and operations.
Main duties/ responsibilities:
- Purchasing and maintaining fleet vehicles.
- Manage registering and licensing of all fleet vehicles.
- Finding ways to cut costs and maximize fleet efficiency and forecast expenses.
- Monitor and analyse fuel data.
- Maintain detailed records of vehicle servicing and inspection.
- Assisting the Warehouse manager with detailed records of MHE servicing and inspection
- Schedule regular vehicle maintenance to ensure operational efficiency.
- Ensuring strict servicing and maintenance times to minimize downtime and maintain schedules.
- Assist with driver behaviour monitoring.
- Report and analyse data to increase business Fleet efficiency.
- Utilize GPS systems to monitor and track vehicles.
- Maintenance of fleet management system (Tracking units on vehicles)
- New Vehicles costing and sourcing
- Allocation of purchase order number for service, tires, and sundries
- National fuel average on all vehicles – current fleet report
- Submit ODO readings for Finance on all owned assets
- Deal with unexpected break downs when they may occur with urgency
- Provide additional reports to other department where required (Linehaul report, ONX report, Route cost analysis report, etc)
Minimum Requirements:
- Must have Grade 12 certificate.
- Diploma/ Degree in Transport Management/ Operations Management or a related field is advantageous.
- 5 Years managerial experience in Fleet management
- Computer literate
- Outstanding organizational skills
- Analytical mindset and good problem-solving skills
- Quantitative ability
- Attention to detail
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication
- Flexible and able to adapt to workload
